Welcome to Forestfarm at Pacifica!

Forestfarm is an on-line mail order plant nursery and part of the non-profit Pacifica: A Garden in the Siskiyous. We specialize in growing useful and ornamental plants. With over 40 years of experience in propagating our own plants, we have one of the largest selections in the country.

Historical Background

In 1971, while hiking next to a granite-rimmed lake high in the Trinity Alps Wilderness, Ray and Peg Prag (on their honeymoon!), amazed at the richness and diversity of the Plant Kingdom surrounding them envisioned creating a nursery together away from the city.

By 1974, Forestfarm had become a reality. Ray and Peg originally began growing only natives in #10 cans scavenged from local cafeterias! Over the years Forestfarm blossomed into a collection of more than 5,000 kinds of plants from all over the world.

The Prags wanted to find a way to share their wonder and respect for plants, not only today but into the future, so in 1998 they founded the nature preserve Pacifica: A Garden in the Siskiyous. Their dream was that Forestfarm nursery continue on and at least in part help fund the nature preserve at Pacifica. Pacifica is located in the beautiful and amazingly bio-diverse Klamath-Siskiyou Region of Southwestern Oregon. It’s 540 historic acres are dedicated to providing education about our natural environment while enhancing the learner’s understanding and appreciation of the natural world.

In 2012 Ray and Peg realized their dream and donated Forestfarm nursery to Pacifica. Forestfarm is now a non-profit and every plant you purchase helps to fund our art and nature programs, and the ongoing care and planting of Pacifica’s botanic gardens. Located in our new facility inside Pacifica, we continue to grow more beautiful and healthy plants, and carry as wide a selection of them as possible. We have a staff of 15-20 gardeners and interns who share the same passion—we pride ourselves on growing the highest quality plants. We just love plants and we care…a lot!…about you, our customers and friends. You’re important to us and we do our utmost to make sure that the plants you receive from Forestfarm will be JUST RIGHT!.
